Privacy Policy — Nash

This policy applies to the Nash Android app published by Jeffrey Chang ("we", "us"). It describes what information Nash collects, how it is used, and what choices you have. Plain English. No dark patterns.

Summary in one paragraph

Nash is an offline-first poker training app. Everything you do in Nash — your hand history, lesson attempts, streaks, Elo rating, and tier — lives on your device. We do not run servers that store your training data. We do not sell, share, or transmit it for advertising. The app contains a local telemetry log used only to debug crashes and improve the lessons; that log stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to send it to us.

What Nash collects

On-device data (you own this)

When you use Nash, the app stores the following data on your phone only:

Your skill-level self-report and chosen formats from onboarding
Lesson attempt history (which spot, what action you picked, the result band)
Spaced-repetition state (when each spot is due for review)
Your Elo rating, XP, streak count, and current daily quota
Hand histories you record via the live hand recorder
Subscription tier (FREE / HOBBYIST / PRO)
A line-delimited telemetry log of in-app events and any uncaught crashes

(capped at 256 KiB per file, two files maximum)

This data never leaves your device unless you take an explicit action to share it (for example, exporting hand histories or — in a future release — opting into cloud sync).

Data we do NOT collect

Nash does not collect, transmit, or store on servers we control:

Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials

(Nash currently has no account system at all)

Your geographic location, IP address (beyond standard request-time logs

the app does not initiate), or device identifiers (advertising ID, etc.)

Contact lists, photos, files outside the app's own sandboxed storage,

microphone audio, or camera input

Any data for advertising, profiling, or third-party analytics

If a future version of Nash adds optional cloud sync or account-based features, this policy will be updated and you will be asked to opt in explicitly before any data leaves your device.

Permissions Nash requests

Permission	Why
`POST_NOTIFICATIONS` (Android 13+)	To show the optional daily-reminder notification. You can deny this and Nash works fully without it. You can revoke at any time in system settings.

Nash does not request internet permission for content delivery; the lesson catalog is bundled in the app package.

Crash and event logs

To debug crashes and improve the curriculum, Nash writes a local log of:

App lifecycle events (session_start, spot_attempt, tier_change)
Uncaught crash stack traces

These logs are stored in the app's private files directory under telemetry/. They are not transmitted to any server. If a future release adds an optional "send anonymized usage data" toggle, it will be opt-in, clearly labeled, and disabled by default.

Third-party SDKs

Nash currently bundles no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The app uses standard AndroidX / Jetpack libraries (Compose, Room, Navigation, Lifecycle) that operate locally and do not phone home.

Children's privacy

Nash is a poker-training app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will work with you.

Your choices

Reset all data: Settings → Reset progress wipes the on-device

database and re-installs Nash from a clean state.

Disable notifications: Settings → Notifications, or revoke

POST_NOTIFICATIONS in Android settings.

Uninstall: removes everything — Nash's data is exclusively

on-device, so uninstalling deletes it entirely.

Changes to this policy

We will update this document if our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be surfaced in-app the first time you open Nash after the change.
